Just asking this for curiosity. I live in a well populated urban area, not some remote dwelling at the back of beyond, and yet the post seems to be saved up and only delivered once a week. It was my birthday on Wednesday and, although two people had posted my card first class a week ago, NOTHING!!! I hadn't had any post for over a week and got about five items together then. Anyway, yesterday I got a deluge - five birthday cards, a letter from a friend, a couple of charity requests and my garden waste bin permit!!!! I was just wondering how other ABers in different areas find their postal service and is there any point in sending anything first class?

I am not convinced first class generally gets here any quicker. For birthday cards now I just use second class and post a week early.
My local post office now operate an "every other day" service, odd number houses one day, even numbers the next day. They've also cut out Saturday deliveries, so I now get five deliveries every two weeks. They stll operate the compulsory six day system ( Saturday is commercial premises only )but for their convenience, not the customer.
