A thought that has bugged me for some time. I know that science says that man was formed from the primevel soup, but how did the dinosaur become to inhabit the earth. Surely they were not born from some primevel soup?

do you mean primordial soup?

Humans and dinosaurs evolved from a common ancestor. The origin of life is currently unsolved.

bednobs Yes. Sorry

Question Author

Radagast. What is this 'common ancestor' and if so why did humans develop millions of years after the dinosaurs?

Don't know if anybody knows what the common ancestor was but the extinction of the dinosaurs left an ecological niche for mammals.

Both dinosaurs and humans evolved from much more basic life forms. They weren't "born" as such.

The origin of life is surely obvious. Certain molecules get together (commonly because they have one end hydrophobic and the other hydrophilic) to form structures which while not alive, replicate. The environment sorts out detects in the replication that are advantageous from those that create disadvantage. So the not yet alive thing evolves. Then you just wait until your particular definition of "alive" appears in a replication. Voila !

Thank you all.  It is a subject that will continue to bug me. Looking for answers to questions that cannot be answered sems to be my burden to carry in life.

Incidentally, Buenchico, pleased to hear your good news from a posting on a different topic.

^^^ Thanks, Gramps85!

All life was single cells for nearly four billion years. Macrosopiclife is relatively recent. Wikipedia has comprehensive information beyond what you will be able to take in with mnths of reading and following links.

There is huge amount of information about the evolution through early chordates, fish, amphibians and reptiles.

Reptiles diverged with one goup going on to form mammals which diverged including a group that eventually led to primates which diverged with a group that led to humans.

It's known as evolution.

You can probably google something about it on the Internet.
