//We are very grateful to the United States for all the support. I’m thankful to President Trump, Congress for their bipartisan support, and American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of full-scale invasion.//
A gracious man in an impossible position.

I've never suggested it did.
I'm addressing the mind boggling naivety even now still demonstrated by the dwindling rump of Trump lovers on here.
Good bit of what aboutery though. As Trump is now indefensible I guess that's all you've got left.
Biden was committed to NATO whereas Trump is an ally of Putin. He's never said a single critical word about Putin as far as I know, but he's continually slaged off all the countries that are supposedly America's allies.
I believe the only reason Trump doesn't withdraw the US from NATO is so he can veto any other country from joining. Sweden and Finland got in there just in time.
It concerns me because I have friends and relatives of conscriptable age. I am genuinely worried that they may have to go and fight on the eastern front at some point.
But hey, there I go again with my TDS induced hysteria.
Keep on blaming the EU or whatever if you feel it's what you have to do.
It's complicated. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created in 1949 by the United States, Canada, and several Western European nations to provide collective security against the Soviet Union. These days there are 32 countries in NATO, 30 in Europe and the other two being the USA and Canada. The Americans have been the de facto leaders of the "free world" and there has been a lot of collaboration among all members, in developing military deploying them and using them, for 75 years. It's been a machine, that has now had a spanner thrown in the world by the USA. How does the collaboration work now? Who is the leader of the free world now? What is the USA's, NATO's and the other 31 countries' respective positions? We don't know, it needs working out. Putin must be drooling, sitting and biding his time as it all unravels.
Assuming that Trump is in the White House for 4 years, no more, no less - those 4 years judged in isolation could well look successful. But over time, that relationship, trust and freedom will degrade the relationship and the results of that will happen later. We won't be buying American stuff when we have alternatives. We'll work more closely with better, more reliable business partners. We'll probably even visit America less on holiday. So the American president after Trump, dealing with Europe and other "free world" countries, is going to have a hard time. The old established trust has been broken.
Watching the conversation between the presidents, it is clear that, as usual, Trump is unable to leave his ego at the door and speak as President, and not as an opinionated braggart.
The VP is clearly a bully and a fool, so the two are well suited.
President Zelenskyy conducted himself with his usual grace and dignity, something the POTUA and his lapdog seriously lack.
I saw an interesting point in the media - if President Zelenskyy had an interpreter, it would mean that Trump's streadm-of-conciousness piffle could be halted somewhat, and President Zelenskyy would have a better shot at expressing his views clearly.
We'll see if that happens.
As long as Trump demands credit for 'finishing wars that haven't even started' as he makes up, you have to worry about the future for everyone.
