i found this in naomi's link, which i found quite curious "Asked about the decision not to hold a public inquiry into the Southend murder, the prime minister's spokesman said: "Sir David Amess's murder was an awful tragedy. Our thoughts continue to be with his family and friends."

ps in answer to the question, im not sure i'd call it nastiness, more like pragmatism

An inquest and a judicial enquiry are very different things, as I'm sure you know.

I've not found any reference to a public inquiry following the murder of Jo Cox so what is, "partisan" about this refusal?

Wasn't he slain with a sword by an Islamist called Ali ?

He was named Ali but he used a knife he had hidden in his pocket.

Link text seems unrelated to storyline these days.

agree yvette

what good will it do ? - 60 mill into lawyers pockets

-- answer removed --

i wonder if it has anything to do with the fact an islamist killed him, not unlike the abuse gangs being worshippers of the religion of peace, coincidence ? don;t want to rock the muslim vote or kick riots ermm, bit fishy if you ask me.

oh lardy lardy

the deleted post was about the  technical way to convert an inquest into an inquiry - not a duty but a power

( s 86 - Lady Hallett)

Just post that, PP. No need for the unnecessary extras that you have been warned about countless times

I think we can expect more nastiness from Labour in the coming months.

for what reason does the murder of david amess need an inquiry? i don't understand

i think there is a good case for an inquiry into violence and threats against MPs in general
