Very good progress, and encouraging. USA and Ukraine have called Russia's bluff. The ball is in Russia's court. This will show whether Russia is serious about peace now or not.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.He might agree to the ceasefire ...but if he has gor as much as he wants (which I doubt) the difficult bit is agreeing on the next bits- who keeps what, what will be put in place to stop him returning to have another go or doing the same in other former USSR countries. But we have to start somewhere.
"If Russia was serious about peace they wouldn't have started a war." Very true. But I believe they seriously underestimated Ukraine and I doubt Russia would have invaded knowing what it knows now. Such is hindsight. But now an opportunity for some sort of compromise deal to end the killing and allow both parties to save face? I believe this would tempt Russia. But if not, carry on with the killing.

Perhaps something was lost in translation in the above newspaper headline – and Putin thought Trump wanted him to paint his face orange.

Do you really think things like a ceasefire happen because Trump posts it on Twitter or whatever? It will take a team of negotiators to navigate a ceasefire agreement before anything stops, could be weeks.
And then, as pointed out above, the hard stuff starts.
But its a step in the right direction IMHO, enough with the killing.
