Have you visited Whitstable?  It's an absolute delight in itself and also a great base for exploring Canterbury, etc.

I've lived in Whitstable Chris, and Canterbury. That's my neck of the woods. I like Faversham too and Reculver and the far east coast of Thanet. 

Isle of Wight.

 

It's close, and has lots of attractions and scenic walks.

Norfolk coast, a holiday birding some of the best sites in the uk,  locally caught crab sandwiches, amazing breweries, and still relatively few people out of season
