New Car Alarms
I have just bought a new car. Everytime you go 1 mile over the speed limit or if you drive into a different speed zone, an alarm goes off. It us really distracting. At the beginning of every journey you can disable it but as soon as you turn the engine off it resets itself. You cannot permanently disable it as it us a European directive, a bit like the daytime lights. I can understand the reasoning but I find it quite annoying. Does anyone else share my frustration?

But not a very good exmple.
A faulty or disabled engine light would be discovered as soon as the engine is switched on (which is necessary for an MoT test to be completed).
A faulty or disbled speeding warning would not because the vehicle is not driven on the road at all and certainly not in excess of the speed limit.
In any case such soppy gimmicks should be discouraged. They depend on accurate speed limit information being held in the satnav system and this is often not forthcoming..
As anyone will attest, if you look at motoring legal forums they are litttered with drivers who have been caught speeding because they over-rely on such technology rather than looking out of the window.
