Without funding it may well shut down. Compare this with, cosying up to the adversary may well mean it's victim gets screwed.  Seems to sort of sum up the US government's strategy at present.

 

Maybe the best indication that this is a questionable move is that both Russia and China approve of it's defunding. I've not heard the view of smaller tyrannies yet.

Why should the American taxpayer fund VOA?  Remember, Trump won the popular vote, so most voters don't want feeding the anti-west propoganda they were fed under Biden.

The American taxpayers, along with all of western culture, benefits from informing the oppressed about reality.  It is money well spent to fund someone doing it.  The alternative is to allow the masses, in dictorial parts of the world to only have lies & propaganda against the "west" pushed to inform them.
