It's Nearly The Weekend!

Yippee!  I'll get one day off and think I may do some gardening.  I also have to sort out one of the freezers which got slightly messed up last weekend.  Apart from that I am planning on drinking some wine and doing a bit of historical research.

Have you got any plans?

Some cider drinking and a little bit of remote control whilst Mr Alba and first born go fishing :)

I am doing some batch cooking and will be waterbathing the stew and the mince.  Planning on making some scones for freezing.

Still a bit early for gardening although I may gamble and put some tatties in

Depends very much on the weather!  Maybe trip down to the beach/harbour or trek round the huge Garden Centre/coffee.

Actually, Alba, I sometimes wish Mr BM would take up fishing again so I would get a few hours p and q.

Hazlinny, I am not allowed to go to garden centres without a chaperone since I come home with a boot full of plants that we do not need but I quite liked.

DDIL, too cold for tatties yet.  We only had a frost last week.  Wait until the soil is nice and warm - ours may go in next weekend though.

Tradition states to plant on St Paddies! I normally do some then and then leave it a few weeks and do some more, but I agree it is still a tad chilly.

I am not allowed to go to the garden centre alone either, if he can't go with me I have to take the beast as apparently I can't shop and control her!

After a rather turbulant week... somthings I got sorted for 'them' some out of ones control... but all is well (I come on here to relax 🤪)

Footie this evening...  no plans as yet after that... Phew!

I can't believe that it is 15.40 on a Friday and I have actually cleared my desk, e-mail inbox and SMS messages!!

So, (at this point) my ideal weekend will be puttering about the house, with a little family history tidying up thrown in; creating something magnificent in the kitchen and then treating myself to several large gins.

Ha! This is obviously a fantasy because as soon as Mrs JtH realises that I am 'at liberty' I shall be dragged into something ridiculous like stripping the beds/laundering the sheets/bottoming the Box-room.....etc.

As an aside to the original question, what variety of potatoes do you grow.

I used to grow Sharpes Express, Charlotte, King Edwards and Kestrel.

Netherfield - I'll ask the head gardener.  I know we had Sharpes express, Charlotte and Maris Piper last year, all of which were great but there was another which was excellent.

I too shall be pottering in the kitchen, I try to make an effort on a Saturday but don't feel particularly enthusiastic at the moment. Given that the big and small freezers are completely rammed and the fridge full of fresh veg, there must be something to inspire me...🙄

I will also be having a few large gins, in fact I'm practicing right now 🍸🍸🍸 😋
