Covid Reflection Day

Apparently there are a number of events taking place across the country today to mark 5 years since the declaration of the pandemic – these include church services in Wolverhampton (remembering those who lost their lives, and to pay tribute to front line workers and volunteers who played crucial role).

Surely the most appropriate event to mark such a day (which would resonate with the general population) would be to hold a party in 10 Downing Street.

Or a beer and curry event?

Why do you bother with such  nonsense.

You've missed the party.  It was on the 9th March

I'll be reflecting, as I shave.

What sort of reflection ? How inappropriately the government reacted ? How compliant and gullible the public were ? Why China failed to react responsibly ? Why the WHO cosied up to China's ludicrous stories of how it didn't come from their lab ? How untested vaccines rushed out were and how at least one has since been withdrawn ?

I think I've reflected on the appaling state of everyone and everything enough already. No point in reminding myself how appalling the human race is any more. Illusions shattered, one may as well just let it all go.

People make a meal of misery.  Leave Covid where it belongs.  In the past.

That's bound to upset a few regulars, naomi. 😄

I was due to fly to Malta on the first day of lockdown. I've still got the tickets and my hotel booking confirmation for The Cavalieri Art Hotel in Spinola Bay. Bojo the Clown put a stop to that. And cause all the chaos.

Clarion, the government took the advice of science.  No one really knew what they were dealing with.  I lost two holidays due to Covid  but such is life.  I stopped moaning about it five minutes after they were cancelled.  We need to get over it.

Malta was in lockdown too and had all sorts of restrictions

How pathetic that the only thing from the pandemic that affected you enough to harp on about it 5 years later is a party that in actual fact never really was a party that broke the rules. Keyworkers were allowed work bubbles at the time. I was in one.

Despite being vaccinated (including booster jabs), I still caught covid.

I recall the Johnson government telling people that they must not socialise, or visit their dying relatives, or attend funerals for loved ones etc – whilst all the time, Johnson & co were partying away in 10 Downing Street.

On the days I did attend work, there was a strict 2 metre separation rule with mandatory mask wearing – compare that with the videos released on Johnson partying away (glass in hand) standing close to others in Downing Street.

I wouldn’t object (to Johnson’s behaviour), if at the time of placing the restrictions on the whole of the UK population, he added a caveat; that obviously the restrictions didn’t apply to him (and his cronies).

Hymie, do stop being so precious.  You're raising arguments that were silly then and are still silly now.  Practically the whole world suffered.  People were in lockdown all over the planet but it's done.  Finished.  Get over it and move on.

Bojo in England,Wee Burney in Scotland. Both made the rules, both broke the rules they themselves made up.Starmer broke the rules also, but he cant match the hypocrisy or the venality of Johnson or Sturgeon.

It's a load of nonsense, yannafyimmi, and always was.

Yes,it was naomi, and still the Chinese government(dictatorship)deny that it all started in a Chinese biological warfare unit.Bhastrads.

Pity more people didn't break the ludicrous lockdown rules. Ridiculous over reaction to a virus that was like flu to 98% of the population. That's what I remember about it.
