The experts say the average family will be £1400 poorer by 2030. So much for Labour improving living standards for the "poor".  This comes from the JRF, no less.

According to a politics 'expert' that I often read, he states that there is no such thing in this day and age as 'poor'.

He suggests that by giving up their large screen TV's, brand new iphones, fags and booze, everything will be AOK!

Even big TVs are cheaper in real terms than bog standard TVs in the 60s / 70s. 

Not all people that are struggling spend their money on booze, fags and expensive phones.

People are living  longer and we need to increase defence spending.

It's going to happen irrespective of what flavour the government is.

Labour dont care about the working man any more than they do anyone else.  This lots are just the same as the last lot, snouts deep in the trough.

Reeves is still taking freebies and claiming a heating allowance too.  Basic MPs pay will soon be almost £100,000 a year nearly double that if you are in the cabinet and they claim everything but pensioners on around £12,000 a year can claim almost nothing.

The Chancellor has a vested interest in denial, it saves her the tiresome task of admitting that she was promoted above her abilities, is way out of her depth, and counting the days to the next reshuffle, when the PM will put her out of her, and our, misery.

The PM assured us only recently that the Chancellor will keep her job for the long haul.... but then he doesn't always mean what he says.

He can't get rid of her at the moment as it will reflect poorly on him, particularly given he's said she'll see out the Parliament as Chancellor and with great fanfare rejoiced in her being the first woman in the post.

 

Personally I think he'll wait a year and then encourage her to fall on her sword.

 

I'm intrigued what tomorrow will bring. I reckon she'll make reference to the mythical £22bn black hole at least three times.
