Peoples Names You Can't Shorten

We all know friends or family that have their name shortened, like Christopher shortened to Chris, Or Kevin down to Kev. 

 

My father had a pet hate about names shortened into a kind of nickname. 

 

But how many names can you think of both male and female that can't be shortened. 

 

I'm going to start with female first : Pat.

Male: Mark

 

How long can we keep this going?

I've known a couple of Sarah's who, for some reason, are just as well know by their derivative name, Sally, and therefore Sal.

I know a couple of people called Sarah, and sometimes people address them as Sar. 

Also Sharon can be called Shaz, or Shar.

You can't win with names, we thought we would call our son Dean as you can't shorten it but he now gets called Deano by some.

Work colleague's daughters are called Amy and Tess.  Not shortened.

Many of the so-called 'can't be shortened' names are sometimes lengthened though, Ann/Annie, Ruth/Ruthie, we found that when we were working with the military this happened a lot, for instance the shortened version of my name was then lengthened by sticking y on the end!
