Surely that would earn more respect from the public when you can admit to a mistake rather than carrying on regardless.

They take MT as their role model ?

Sadly no, the public hate the truth, they want to be lied too. It becomes obvious when one comes along that tells the truth and causes huge ructions in the polictical space time continuum.

Written by Boris Johnson in 1999:
"I am a raving Euro-federalist . . . a pro-European of the most violent, dyspeptic and incurable disposition".

Reported by the BBC in 2016:
>>> Mayor of London Boris Johnson has said leaving the EU would be a "win-win for all", urging those backing exit to "hold our nerve and vote for freedom".  The EU was an anachronism which "costs us a huge amount of money and subverts our democracy", the Tory MP said <<<

Doesn't that qualify as a 'change of policy' then, Dave?

they get accused of flip flopping

I would rather they changed their minds for the good of the country than worry about name calling.

Flip flopping isnt the same thing though.

Constanlty changing you view becasuse someone doesnt like what you said is just as bad.  Sometimes the cure has to be harsh, they need to grow a pair and stand up for what they want but at the same time if the policy is failing then yes, fes up and tweak it.
