Seems Mr Farage and Natwest have settled their row following his "debanking" about 18 months ago:

Apparently he is to receive a formal apology and undisclosed damages.

Like him or loathe him, Nigel is no fool. He would not have pursued this complaint if he wasn't sure of winning.

We have no idea what amount NatWest agreed to pay and there was no guarantee a judge would award damages in excess of that amount so Farage may not have been confident enough to go to court.

Had I been the CEO of Coutts/Natwest – I would have told Farage to sling his hook (as he no longer qualified for a Coutts account), and offered the fool an ordinary Natwest account, and that would have been the end of it.

 

Instead the bank’s management went about making all sorts of inappropriate comments/suggestions (in public) as to their banking relationship with Farage.  As a result of the bank’s senior management’s gross incompetence – they have agreed to pay Farage compensation.

 

Proof the bank needs me as their CEO.

I suspect the majority would find they had no case. A known name get taken more seriously, and likely has access to resources and folk with legal skills that others can't afford.

retro sums it up - breach of coonfidentiality. Complex law. If I were a lawyer involved I really WOULD be rubbing my hands and smiling. There is also a claim for restitution ( future earnings, wrecked by the info leaked - same thing as is hindering the post office victims.)
