We have just received a package from our Postman.

Given all the hoo-hah about the barcode being present and visible these postage stamps have me really confused....

A strange combination to use. What do you think?

They only go up in value if they are marked 1st or 2nd.  A 13p stamp will always be worth 13p.

A friend of mine runs a business buying and selling stamps and sends out lots of stamps on approval. He encloses a stamped A5 envelope for the return of unsold stamps. I have on occassions taken these packets to the post office for him. The packet is weighed and so long as the stamps come to the value of the required amount to post it doesn't matter how old the stamps are or how many are used.

That's correct, Barry. The 2nd class stamps shown in Jack's post actually say "2nd" on them - and they will always go up in value as stamp prices rise.
