I was working on the computer in Oxfam this morning (we currently have a 40% off sale online and we were busy) and this story popped up. 

Why does nothing like this happen in our wee shop?

I have loads of books.  Our church has loads of books ( we act as a book swap/repository) - something worth a fraction of that would benice ---- but we don't charge!

Why does it matter when/where it happens as long as the charity benefits - are you in competition with other Oxfam shops?

I have 13 large bookcases full and overflowing with books, mainly none fiction and reference books. I wouldn't part with any of them. They are all useful.

Remember reading about the Oxfam bookshop in St Andrews selling a first edition Harry Potter book for a large amount. Can't remember just how much.

You could hardly give a English text one away.  A bit like video tapes, in that regard.
