To All The Smuggies With Lecky Jam Jars.........
It's gonna get a lot more expensive:
"Vehicles with a list price in excess of £40,000 have to pay £425 as an annual supplement on top of the standard car tax rate in years two to six after a vehicle is first registered." - that includes electric cars most of wich are over £40k new.
Glad I have the Jaaag! 🚗

It doesn't apply to electric cars first registered before 31st March 2025, so it's not going to get a lot more expensive for those who currently own an electric car
"Electric cars first registered between 1 April 2017 and 31 March 2025: You'll pay £195 per year from April 2025. The £40,000 expensive car supplement is not backdated, so an electric car first registered in 2024 will not attract the supplementary rate of £410 on top of the standard rate."

Those electric car smuggies are going to be feeling even more smug as the expensive hikes don't apply to them.
There are many electric cars under the £40k limit, anyone buying an electric car over that from today will be well aware of the ongoing costs. It's going to hit the high end new electric car sales, without a doubt
No Barry. It's lifestyle, not cars. Not sure where I read this, but cases of asthma have fallen in recent years. This could just be coincidental with people moving away from soft furnishings and carpets to laminate floors and self-assembly stuff.
Emphysema isn't caused by exhaust fumes. I know, you said it can be aggravated, not caused by, exhaust fumes but emphysema can be aggravated by other things too.
Do you actually ever read any of your answers, or like gulliver, do you just carry on spouting what you're going to say no matter what evidence anyone provides the contrary?
Brand-new Jaguars can be over 40 K, family electric cars can be under 40 K. And as Barry has pointed outThis change is not retrospective and therefore anyone who buys one now will know and plan. Not that I expect you to read this of course. Unless it's to write "have a day off"
bednobs: "Do you actually ever read any of your answers, or like gulliver, do you just carry on spouting what you're going to say no matter what evidence anyone provides the contrary?" - yes I read them all, do you? it seems you don't because you just seem to want to knock everything without understanding the content.
