Morning everyone. Discharged Sunday afternoon but so shattered from 6 days/nights of almost non sleep in hospital  that I couldn't wake up properly yesterday - I kept dozing on & off till about 9.30am. Am soooo glad to be back home - really makes you appreciate things doesn't it. Hope you're all well & have been behaving. I'm not 100% but am miles better and will be back normal v v soon.

Thanku so much to everyone single one who posted a msg, meant the absolute world and kept me sane!! I shall be my usual annoying self before you know it! x

Glad you're back home Smow. I was fascinated by Madge, but angry that she was able to get away with it. Take it easy now, we don't want you back in there. xxx

So lovely to see you back.  Take care of yourself Smow - dont do too much too soon - however tempting  x

Great that you're back at home.

Take things easy and enjoy the sunshine.

'Morning Smow - you must be pleased to be back home and I'm sure Mr. Smow and the puss-cats are fussing over you.  Don't rush back into your sales work - remember health is more important. 😊 x

Ohhhh I really missed you lot!

As for Madge - as incredibly annoying as she was, it's very very common for elderly people to not want to go home who are genuinely lonely, and not just attention seekers like Madge- as they see it they get 3 meals a day, a morning, afternoon & evening hot drink comes round, a volunteer service comes round with a trolley of free magazines/crossword puzzles, a ward with normally 3 other patients to chat to all day/evening, and that's not even starting on the endless attention from doctors, nurses, porters, cleaning staff etc etc.....

Good to see you back Smow.

I don't think Madge is alone is now she behaves.

My MIL loves the attention that she gets from nurses and domestics etc at hospital - she is the same when she gets the visits from them at home - we watch how she is when they are not there and how she is when they arrive - she almost preens.

I think they don't want to leave hospital because its constant companionship as opposed to the visitors they get at home.

Glad you are home Smow. As others have said take it easy and give your body time to recover

Ahh thanks Rosetta, I will x

Yet these lonely bed blockers are reluctant to move in to a care home or sheltered accommodation

On the other hand, many are eager to get home but are "bed-blockers" because care packages can't be set up for them when they are due to be discharged home - carers in short supply.

Good to see you're back home Smow, enjoy a relaxing recovery 😊x
