...remarked he hoped he'd live long enough to see it grow.

With these words did he give away a secret worry?

I wish him a long life.

The King is being realistic. He is 76 years old, and, as many elderly people know, there isn't much time left for them to do all that they wanted to do. I doubt that, in this respect, he has a secret worry. Things happen when fate says they will happen. Good luck to him.

He's also still undergoing treatment for cancer.

Ah bless,  bet he would rather be at home with his feet up than with all this Pomp and Circumstance.

I'm uncertain as to what you mean by a secret worry.

If you mean a confidential private diagnosis that the Mucky Media have not splashed over their slimy newspapers etc., then I suppose there is that possibility.

I too wish him well.

smurfchops, I have also had that thought about the Royal Family. They have more wealth than I could ever dream of, but they are obliged to appear here, and appear there, and to look as if they enjoy doing all that travelling. I am sure that they would much rather sit at home, with a cup of tea, and just look out of the window. Just once in a while.

I have no problem with him living long so long as its not on the throne.

Waster IMHO.

All that travelling but bear in mind they never have to queue, remove shoes and belt, have liquids in a see-through bag and deal with dead-eyed G4S operatives.

Anyway, tree cheers for his maj, hip-hip, replacement...
