Good buffet food
4 Answers
I have a buffet to prepare for a wake.
I think this is harder to do than for a party as there is a larger mix of people and I need food to suit all ages.
Does anybody have any ideas??

I went to one not long ago for a friend of mine and they had it in a pub with a buffet of cold carvery meats, ham, beef etc... with some quiche and lots of salad items eg cherry tomatoes, coleslaw, potato and pasta salads and such and some nice bread.
Made it more of a meal that bits and pieces and people were all sitting down together and talking and reminiscing and it was really nice (in the circumstances).

Have a chat with your local butcher - I bought a large ham from mine for a recent buffet, and they said that once I'd cooked it, if I took it back they'd slice it all up and set it out on the platters for me - excellent!
Good meats, good cheeses (kids like cheese cubes I find) salady stuff like coleslaw, cous cous and pasta or rice salads. I also find that a nice tray of fresh fuit goes VERY well (fresh pineapple, mango, kiwi, figs etc) .
