While browsing an article on Ocean Cruising I encountered an interesting comment.  Allegedly, if they're offering free Ice Cream it means the morgue facility is full and they've got another body to store, so they need to free up some space in the freezer store.  Happy cruising 😁.

I had heard if they were offering flowers to passengers then they were having to use to flower room as a morgue

Aye, and if the scampi in a basket portions suddenly double start a head count.

I've heard about that hundreds and thousands of times .

Actually I tell a lie - I've heard about  it, 99 times

It's an old wives tale - cruise ships abound with them all the time.

Every ship allows for a certain level of fatalities on board, given the numbers and age demographic, it's pretty much standard that some won't make it back, but they do have facilities to deal with them, and it doesn;t include using food freezers!!

Bog standard ice cream is free on most ships.

I'd want to see the standard of the bogs before spooning.

Oh, and avoid the pistachio.
