My mom has a 13 year old pit bull. He's very skinny and she let's his nails get too long. She took him to the vet recently and she said they weren't concerned. His nails are also very long, but she does take them to get trimmed. I watch him every week day while my mom is at work. I'm afraid to take him out on walks and stuff because I'm afraid someone will call animal control. I Also have some friends coming over tomorrow, and im afraid of them seeing him like this. Here's a photo of him from earlier.

You won't find many experts on Pit Bull Terriers on this site because it's a criminal offence to own one here in the UK. (Dangerous Dogs Act, 1991).

However if a qualified vet isn't too concerned about the condition of the dog, I fail to see why anyone else should be.

Take the dog for a walk, if you stay to walking on roads or the sidewalks it willl help to wear the claws down.

His nails look pretty long in the photo and do need to be shorter, but it isn't cruel.  Don't worry about everything.

Enjoy your time with your friends.

How much of your time do you spend looking for victims to grass up ?

Looks in such a bad way, best to stop it suffering any more and have it put down.  Don't you think ?
