Covid Raises Its Head Again

Well, OH has been hospitalised for kidney and heart failure. The first was causing fluid on the lungs and around the heart.... due to a UTI.  Anyway, after his heart stopping (not a good time) it re-started and he recovered enough to be sent to Bridlington hospital where they specialise in rehabilitation after strokes and serious illnesses - he was in there in Feb. after a similar illness.  They are good.

All was going well until...............there is Covid around the wards and he was moved into a single room to protect him (he's just had his 92nd birthday in hospital).

I'd spend 2 cheerful hours with him on Monday and was kissing him goodbye - when a nurse rushed in, waving a mask at me ant telling me that he'd tested positive for Covid (they'd just had the result).

Question (OH seems cheerful enough and is being well cared for because he's managed to charm his nurses yet again) what are the signs for the current covid bug, please?  I've more than likely got it, but feell OK so far.

You can buy a Covid test for about £2 from a pharmacy. I bought one recently because I was coughing and bunged up, and have an elderly husband so I was worried about Covid.

I was fine, but it was good to know that I wasn't going to infect him.

jourdain; Oh dear! as the Bard said; "When sorrows come, they come not single spies but in battalions."

I hope everything isn't as bleak as it sounds. God bless you both  x

Thanks Cloverjo.  I unearthed some old Covid tests but they'd all dried up and, living near seaside towns and it being Easter Bank Hols., I couldn't park anywhere near a chemist.  That's why I asked about current symptoms.  I'dd have to drive back and try again tomorrow.  I just hoped that someone could tell me what to watch out for.

Thank you so much, Khandro.  It isn't easy again - and I can't write.  I did manage to play the organ for Easter Sunday service.

Can't offer advice I'm afraid, just cyber hugs for you and best wishes for husband xxxx

A couple of guys where I work just had covid, and they said its like their eyes were stinging really badly, so obviously a different strain going round.

See here:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/covid-19/covid-19-symptoms-and-what-to-do/

People who've been vaccinated might well get Covid without hardly noticing it (if at all).  Similarly, someone who's had Covid before might have built up some immunity to it, thus reducing the effects of any new infection.

I suggest attaching a label to Mr J2, addressed to the nurses, saying "Hands off! He's mine!" 😊

I'm sorry to see your news, jourdain & am sending you both my very best wishes x

Thanks all of you - apart from whoever wrote something which has had to be removed.

I'll see if it's possible to get near a chemist's today as well.

Buen ---- I might need that notice... he was fed up and askig when I'd arrive so one health assistant did a little dance to entertain him and make him laugh.  :)

It's a worrying time, though.

jourdain, the post I removed was a very sensible post - except for the random, unconnected link at the bottom of it.  It was a bot posting spam.

Sorry about OH being hospitalised again Jourdain and sending you best wishes x

Hope that you manage to get some test kits and wish you both speedy recovery.

Sending get well wishes to your OH. I hope he rallies and can come home very soon.

Wishing him a speedy recovery Jourdain, heaven knows he ,and you, have been through enough but obviously you are both fighters

Sorry to hear about your OH, sending you both best wishes, hoping for better days very soon. xx
