Coverless Ducets

All our duvets are coverless, simply because we don't use duvet covers any more.

We have a bottom sheet, a top sheet, then a duvet. Makes life so much more simple when changing the bedding. The duvet is, in a way, just like an eiderdown or comforter. All our duvets have very soft covers, sort of peach skin (or something like that), not expensive but very comfortable and snuggly, and look good.

Just saying... 😉

We've been doing that for years, with a thin, lightweight throw on top of the duvet

I bet your ducets have covers on , though 😀

DUVETS.....🙄

I don't bother with duvet covers either. Mind you, duvets are a pain to launder as they won't fit in my washing machine and have to be dry cleaned. That is expensive.

The only problem I'd have with going back to them is having to use a top sheet... something I was relieved to be rid of when I moved to the UK.

Also, while I can fit my very lightweight duvet in my washing machine, I'm not sure a coverless one would fit.

If you're heading out to the drycleaners anyway keep an eye out for BP petrol stations with big washers and dryers on the forecourt.

I love my cover less ducet

i sleep so much better as i add layers like blankets as needed.

hang it on the line on a windy day to refresh it

Strange the way the British take a simple concept and mess with it...

Are coverless duvets different from ordinary duvets? Our duvets are very plain and not meant to look smart, they are just like pillows-  they need a pillowcase. We don't wash our duvets and we don't wash our pillows; we just wash the covers.

To me a coverless duvet is the new name for an eiderdown with duvet material filling. I would have a sheet under this. My duvet is a 4 and 9 tog joined together. Both are washed in my washer when seasons change

Is airing a duvet as good as washing it?

Coverless duvets have a non removeable outer layer, coloured or patterned

Calmck, can you get a queen size duvet in your washing machine?

I've never heard of these until it came up on AB this week. It does seem to be one step away from complete reversion to sheets, blankets and bedspread from my youth with an eiderdown in winter.

I get the top sheet to clean it from 'body' type dirt but surely you sometimes get mess/dirt on the actual top surface of the duvet as well - the odd drop of tea, cat hair, make-up, anything really. I'd expect them to look quite grubby after a while of no cleaning.

Yes Queen fits in my machine. I line dry then fluff in dryer. Washer has duvet setting

Prudie of course, no make up and I don't eat or drink Ed but I do get cat and dog hair so putting it on on a windy day helps then every 2 months or so I take it to the the garage washing machine for a wash

That's why I have a lightweight throw over the duvet, DDIL

I used to have them covered and used without a top sheet when I was unattached and allowed to do things properly. Then I was informed that wasn't right.  Thing is, the top sheet can be a pain when getting up at night to go to the bathroom and then trying to get back. Usually it's ok, but occassionally one ends up the wrong side, or with one leg under and one over. It was never an issue when there wasn't one there.

I am a very cold person so my current sleeping arrangements is top sheet, blanket, coverless duvet then a thin patchwork quilt thing that can go into my domestic washing machine

My duvet is blue on 1 side and grey on the other and the pillow covers match
