car insurance
Hello, I was wondering where I stand with regards to the following: I had a bad accident in my car nearly two years ago, which wasn't my fault. The person who I crashed into pulled over a give way line when it was my right of way. They have admitted full liability, etc but now I have come to renew my car insurance I am getting penalised for this accident. The reason I know this is because while getting quotes off various companies online I asked for two seperate ones, one stating I had an accident, one stating I hadn't and there was nearly 100 difference! Surely this isn't right considering it wasn't my fault? I would appreciate advice on this. Many thanks

My first wife worked in an insurance office. She used to say that insurance companies work on the basis that it takes two people to make an accident - even when one always blames the other. In cases like this, the insurers will argue that if you were driving safely you should have seen the other car stop and then be aware that he might pull out - even if it was your right of way. Whether it was your right of way or not, you still managed to hit him when he did something wrong! You should have noticed him and been able to take appropriate action to avoid him if he did something like that.
I'm afraid that's the way insurers work Rocket. They have upped your premium because you have shown that you are an increased accident risk by not being aware of the silly things other drivers might do.
