i believe an administrator will try and run the company and hope to sell to a buyer whereas when the assets of a company are liquidated they'll sell off everything to try and pay the creditors

i may, of course, be wrong!
Liquidisation is the process of realizing upon assets and of discharging liabilities in concluding the affairs of a business, estate, etc.
And administration is the management of any office, business, or organization; direction
Hope this helps
