Even some hospital departments are funded by charity. there is a charity called cancerbackup which both myself and my mother have been in touch with for chatting as they are very good for listening when you need a good cry as well as good information and booklets too, this is one charity that myself and my family try to raise funds for. I wish you lots of luck with your fundraising and as you are so young you will probably have a lot of fun with your activities too.
A lot of the charities do organised events like Cancer Research UK have a large series of 10K runs/walks around the country throughout the Summer.
If you want to raise money, a good place to look is Just Giving - http://www.justgiving.com/ - as it's mostly online and they can sort out the tax breaks too (28% on top of what you raise, for free!)
It also means if you post elsewhere you can include it in sig files etc. which is a very good way to spread it. If you do that, post a link back here and you might well get a few sponsors.

Hi - Go onto the Cancer Research website, there will be charity events that you can join for all types of cancer including breast cancer (breast cancer events are usually women only, but some include men). I did a trek of the Great Wall of China - you have to raise a lot of money but they help you every step of the way, there are various other events abroad as well.
Also, google the 'wear it pink' campaign, that will give you plenty of ideas.
Me and friends also used to go out on the town dressed up, usually around a date like halloween or valentines etc, take a bucket and collect as much cash as poss from people in bars - it was fun and most people on a night out are more than willing to let go of their change!
There's so much you can do....... good on you!
