They can't be let off after 11pm, nor in public places, nor be possessed by anyone under 18. There is a 2000 pounds fine for breaching any of this - but who will be interested in enforcing that!
I also recall that there are now just three times in the year when fireworks can be set off - Diwali, November 5th and New Year, but I may be wrong on that.

You can't set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am except on November 5 when you can set them off until midnight and New Year's Eve, Chinese New Year and Diwali when they can be set off until 1am
You must be over 18 to buy fireworks
It is illegal for anyone under 18 to possess fireworks in public
It is an offence to throw or set off fireworks in a street or public place.
It is an offence for people who aren't firework professionals to buy and possess category 4 fireworks. These are only to be used at public displays by firework professionals.

When ?
When I finally lose my rag and go and thump one of the pains in the neck who think it funny to do this when law abiding citizens and their dogs are trying to sleep.
Yesterday afternoon in broad daylight I was walking my dog and a twonk on one of these scooter things came roaring along the road dropping fireworks in his wake.I nearly jumped out of my skin and my poor old pooch was all of a tremble. The government legislate but it is not enforced and it gets right up my nose !
Rant over. Grrr !!

I'm not a killjoy but firework night (or two months) was always a nightmare because my two little dogs were terrified of them. When I was walking them one day some idiot let off a firework and one of my dogs flew across the field heading for the main road, if it had'nt been for the fact that a boy stopped her before she got to the gate she would probably have gone straight into the road. Like you Shaneystar I badly wanted to thump someone. What I did do is write to my local MP and I have to say that he did do his bit to sought this problem out. What is encouraging is that most people feel as we do but sadly they don't speak out and just put up with the problem. Come on everybody let the government know how you feel.
