I've seen a company advertise that they achieved 14th place on the Financial Times UK top 50 Great Places to Work.

Does this really mean that much? Do any of you work for companies in that list, and if so, are they that great?

I remember working for a company that was described as an investor in people, yet they didn't ever invest in anyone I knew who worked for them.

No, sorry. I've been trying to find it online, but had no success. If anyone else find's it, I'd be interested to have see who's on it.
i work for one of them, think they said it was 6th on the list?? but then i recieved a questionaire today asking my opions and said it would be used for the rankings?? so bit confusing but i love my job (something i thought i would never admitt!) and its fun to work for them so i would agree with the pole
I work for the company that is 14th on the list (not in the UK though) and it isn't bad. However, as with all companies, a lot depends on you direct bosses. Apart from benefits and other tangible evidence of a good workplace, you need to have a good boss to feel it is a good place to work.
