Gambia non stop hassle to the point couldnt leave hotel and it was aggressive if you didnt feel like talking etc and they were all trying to practise their English which is fine but gets tiring after a while - I have travelled all over world and back packed etc but never been anywhere I would never go back to except Gambia I hated it! We even had men coming up to sun lounger in hotel hassling us just awful
Haven caravan park in Filey - it was the last weekend of the season and we were the last people scheduled to use the caravan before it was scrapped! Windows 'sealed' with kitchen roll, no heating to speak of (in November!), filthy kitchen, drips (use your imagination) and hairs on the toilet seat and in the shower (ewwww). Then the site - bad food, lacking in taste but extremely generous in burnt grease, unfriendly, unhelpful staff (Reception was closed when we arrived early evening, but no one else would give us proper help), and running a risk of losing shoes every time we entered the bar 'entertainment' area cos the floor was so sticky with spilt god-knows-what!

Went to another Haven site a couple of years later - not much better TBH.
I'd go along with Memore.....worst holiday ever.

The hotel had barbed wire perimeter fences to stop the 'locals' getting in. Lovely beaches just outside the fence but you'd get constant hassle as soon as you left the compound.

We did go out a few times. Once we got a taxi into town - the driver had a machete between the front seats. Very reassuring!

Another time we took an organised trip into the jungle on a small coach. The coach that took us there returned to the hotel without us and we were left there for a couple of hours before hitching a ride back to town. Not the best experience!

When we went for a walk around the local market we were advised to hire a local bodyguard to stop us being attacked or robbed.

Its probably a really nice place but the constant hassle meant you could never relax. Not recommended.
Avoid Morocco, for exactly the same reasons as Gambia. The begging etc., spoils what is otherwise a fascinating country.
I agree with yerbamate. Morocco is awful because you never stop getting hassled and the sellers become aggressive towards you. I hear that same thing happens in Tunisia.
Dominican Republic - most of the people had had some sort of food poisoning.
Mine is really to do with weather

We decided to go to Copenhagen for a long weekend in March I think it was. Tivoli Gardens was closed - which we knew before we went - but there still seemed a lot to see.

It was raining when we arrived but that didn't bother us. The hotel we stayed in was lovely but, much to our amusement, opposite a sex shop with a number of neon signs offering various services.

We went out to explore and the rain got worse. By the time we got to the Rosenborg Palace it was thundering and so dark that even inside the palace you could hardly see anything. It was like the exhibits and pictures were shrouded in grey. Likewise when we climbed the Rundetarn the rain veiled the view so much that we could only see about 5 feet in any direction!

The following day the rain had eased and we decided to visit Christiania which I was really looking forward to having read quite a bit about it and being attraccted to that kind of alternative lifestyle. As we walked towards the 'entrance' we were followed by a number of people who, to be honest, made us feel a bit uncomfortable - we wandered a few feet inside and, again, just felt so unsafe and so unwelcome - contrary to what I had been led to believe - we immediately turned round and headed away - followed again by some shady looking characters and a loudly barking dog.

My previously incredibly comfy walking shoes then started to rub my feet so much they made the heels bleed so we got some plasters and retired to a nearby pub. Great place, great atmosphere, really expensive beer!

Our last day the sun was shining Nyhavn looked beautiful but I had a stomach upset and felt dreadful!

On the plus side we'd had some lovely meals, what we saw of the city through the rain looked really pleasant, it was a very interesting place and the majority of people we met were really friendly.

Similar experience on a day trip to Brussels - pouring rain made us miserable, "is that it?" my husband announced at seeing the Manneken Pis, the meal we had was overpriced and not very good (our fault really for being tempted into one of those set price tourist menu places). We ended up finding a bar with a good view of the Grand Place (very pretty) and stayed there tasting Belgium beers until the Eurostar was due. I know it's not fair because I am sure it is an interesting city but we had such a dull, awful day it has completely put us off visiting again and the very word "Brussels" make us both shudder!
Thanks for the Morrocco tip off I am going there at end of this month for few days.

Seems I been to all the worse places listed - I liked Copenhagen but very cold early October couple years back and Tivoli gardens closed.

Belguim - well never been to Brussels went to Bruges for four days which was great for one no nightlife so dead dull in fact so bad we hired bikes and cycled for two hours to Holland hahah so no never would go back to Belguim!
