Agree and disagree, Metz! Have loved virtually his entire oeuvre (especially Big Fish and Nightmare Before Christmas!) except the abysmal Planet of the Apes remake.
And willa makes three. My favorites include Big Fish (always makes me teary at the end), Edward S., Beetlejuice (hysterical Mr. Keaton), Corpse Bride (so Gilbert & Sullivan-y), Frankenweenie and Ed Wood (ah, the joys of a fuzzy sweater).
Not seen Planet of the apes ...didn't appeal to me ,i grew up with the old ones !
NBX i love that film .. my youngest is a big fan too ..he's got some of the beanies ..tried to get him to sell them on ebay but he won't part with them LOL, he's got Jack,Sally, Mayor, Lock, Stock,Barrell, oogie boogie, and Dr Finkelstein ...he's just seen the ad for the NBX DVD out on the 17th nov...Xmas pressie :o)
I liked Ed Wood and Planet Of The Apes, which most people seem to deride for some reason - can't see why, it's a zillion times better than those 70s ones. I also quite like the Batman films.
But I get a bit tired of his approach - he seems to plough the same field a lot. I like directors who can go from a sci-fi drama to a screwball comedy to a historical epic to a war film and so on. But I understand his appeal, limited though it is.
