changing the house deeds/ownership

i want to give my house to my wife, so i need to change the house deeds/ownership to he rname. how do i do this? can i do it myself? or do i need a solicitor?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If the property is mortgaged it will be classed as a transfer of equity and your wife will have to go through a lending application to ensure she can maintain the monthly payments be it by herself or with a guarantor present. The mortgage provider will take care of the legal ramblings and may charge a fee - you would need to speak with them. If you own the house with no mortgage I would contact a solicitor for legal advice, or wherever you have you deeds stored and also contact Land registry as they may be able to point you in the right direction.
