How do you cook them in the oven? Silly question but i usually do them in the microwave! What do you do with them, How long for and gas mark what? Thanks
in the oven, 180 degrees, coat them in a little olive oil and leave them til nice and soft on inside and little crispy on the inside . Usually about 1hr . Yum
me too, then halve them hollow the centre out and mix it with butter, cheese and pepper, put it back into the potato skins and brown off under the grill. delicious
I find wrapping in foil makes the skin soft - Mr Sunflower likes his this way. I prefer crispy skin so rub with salt and oil, cross the middle and slow bake for about one hour as per larkin
Prong the potato a few times, or if its big you can cut it in half. Rub the outside skin with a little bit of sea salt and oil so it will crisp up a bit. Gas mark 6 or 200 degrees-ish for an hour or more. I usually need an hour and 20 mins but I HATE them undercooked!
I dont rub anything on the skins, I just place a metal skewer through the centre of the spud which makes sure the heat is distributed into the potato evenly so you dont get any hard not quite cooked parts, and place in the middle shelf of the oven - on about 200 degrees c. for at least 1.5 hours - yummy!
I do mine exactly the same way as roughquest except instead of a skewer I have this tool that I pinched off my mum which is made for exactly this purpose. I have no idea what it is called, but it is made of metal and has two skewers laying across each other making four prongs (in a cross shape) and the prongs are all bent up at right angles. You shove the potatoes on the uprights bits et voila yummy fluffy, crispy jacket potatoes.
i prick them with a fork, rub some garlic on them put them in foil in the oven on 180 for an hour,10mins before their done i take them out of the foil to crisp them yummy yummy
