Anoying pop-up

Some days ago my ISP was out of service for a few hours. Before I found out that the problem was as straight forward as that, I had a look at my connection settings. I don't remember changing any but since service was restored I'm getting a pop-up saying Connecting to WAN Miniport.
I'm on broadband and have my computer set to never dial a connection. how can I configure to get rid of the anoying pop-up ? Many thanks in advance.
