Its based around nana dying and just doesnt work. Caroline Aherne has had some problems I read, and they manifested themselvs through this one off special
Really gutted too cos I've got all the past series on DVD and always put them on when theres nothing on.
Its really really dreadful, I wish that they'd left us wanting more cos as it stands, I dont.
it just goes to show that you cant please all the folk all the time.I thought it was television at its best it made you both laugh and cry all at the same time sheer brilliance.
Apparently it is available to buy on DVD from today.
Don't listen to those who thought it was rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was fantastic... but then i a) have a cracking sense of humour and b) enjoy a good cry!
I found it both extremely funny - laugh out loud type funny - and very, VERY moving.
Having had my own grandmother die in these circs a year ago next week (living with and being looked after by my parents) it was spookily close to the 'truth' and this made it stand out as being written by people who truly know how to write the best television.
totally agree - it was brill. I have all the series on DVD and this was just as good - and was very funny and moving when nanna died and even Jim shed a tear cause he couldn't fight with Norma anymore.
The only thing I thought was off was Denise calling her new baby Norma - it's so old fashioned - a touching tribute as nana held on to see the baby.
It was good to see David grown up and Anthony's son who is called Lewis - he and Emma must have split up as he'sgot a new girlfriend.
Little David is played by Craig Cash's son - thjey are two peas in a pod
well i bloody well loved it, i had not laughed that loud for ages......jim in the kitchen in a sulk cuz norma had took the batteries out of his remote!!
Didn't this person miss it and want to watch it? Why has everyone just told them what happened in it and ruined it for them? they didnt ask what happened, they asked when it's repeated so they can watch it and find out.....also the question I wanted answering, not a run down of everything so it's now completely ruined.
It was fabulous....classic, northern humour at its best...very emotional..I was crying with laughter and crying when nana died....well written, well acted...very touching - hope a new series returns!!!
But didn't you think that Ricky Tomlinson overacted?
Also, they recycled previous gags, for example the men dancing whilst doing DIY (they were doing that before when stripping wallpaper).
I'm not denying that it was moving because it was but it just wasn't Royle Famliyish. Gave you those Sunday night blues and I was expecting a barrel full of laughs
I think that they way it was done indicates that it was the final episode...................and I'm glad (sorry to say)
