What is the most common bird on Earth?

It's probably the European House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), which is found on 2/3 of the world's land mass. If you'd asked this question a hundred years ago the likely answer would have been the passenger pigeon, but it became extinct in 1914.

I always thought it was hens/chickens, as they are farmed and because of eggs, all over the world. However, we do eat a lot of them...
