I need some inspiration on a gift idea for my gran.

She doesn't drink alcohol, eat chocolates or use 'smelly stuff' and shopping for clothes is a nightmare as most clothes don't fit her. Her eyesight has deteriorated and she can't watch TV or read books like she used to.

Any suggestions folks or is it back to the good old slippers and flowers?

Thanks in advance!

How about a simple personal radio she can carry from room to room? Another idea, If she can manage to operate a basic personal tape recorder, you can buy audio books.

thats a possibility. I'll run a search for audio books and see what comes up.

Do you get a big buttoned radio like you do a phone?

Thanks!
If she does like to read, if her eyesight isn't really bad, what about those big magnifying lenses that you hang around your neck that rest on your chest so that you can read a book. My friend's mum has a degenerative eye condition and she thought that his was a brilliant idea.

Hi SCOTS - Yeah, you can get very basic controls for radio or tape, no fancy stuff, just straight forward. See if you can see any on display before you buy! My mum listens to audio tapes a lot.

Hi skyep, been searching the web for stereos but they all appear to be too new and complicated for her, so it would probably not get used...

book her in 4 a all over massage with a young fit man make her feel like a new woman take years off her.then u can buy her what u like she will be young again lol
I had exactly the same problem. Last Christmas I bought a nice, rustic wooden bird feeder like a small house and bird feed for her to put in the garden.

It was such a hit she is still talking about it to this day. Problem is now I have to top that this year!

If she doesn't have a garden you could still get similar to put outside the window etc.

Going back to the audio tapes for her to listen to, and your struggle ot find a basic one that's simple for her to use? I found one of these on EBAY, I know they are children's ones- but you got to admit, nothing technical on them! LOL

Take her out for tea - it may be a pain, you may need to borrow a wheelchair from the Red Cross but she'll love it
