Police Marksman
It has been reported today that one of the officers in the shooting of De Menezes has been involved in the shooting of an armed robber on Tuesday evening.
There have been claims that the officer should not have been on firearm duty "so soon" after the Menezes shooting.
So soon? It was over a year ago for gawd's sake.
A year is ample time, isn't it?

Its not like he was off duty and shooting random people. I dont like guns but we need some policeman to be armed with them. He obviously works in an area where he has to be deployed to these situation more regularly than little country towns like mine. If the robber had shot a member of the public or another police officer and this guy hadnt been prepared to shoot him becasue he was involved with another shooting a year before , what would the point be in him having that position.
What sort of person ? A person who is trained to protect us and who is doing his job. Yes, sadly, the Brazilian was innocent, but the policeman was told that he was a terrorist about to commit an act of murder. He would have been ordered to eliminate that threat - and he did.
The latest incident was more 'routine.' Shoot at armed police and you can expect fire to be returned.
