gas meters
5 Answers
Hi
Any one know why brtitsh gas will not allow you to switch to a meter rather than a pay as you go top up card for gas. I rang british gas ansd they said I had to have lived in my new house for a year before i could swap over! it's really expensive and inconvienient using a card plus my cellar is dark and damp and the meter is down there!!
Thanks
Elizabeth

In that case tell them they either do what you want or you transfer the business to someone who will. You know, I've recently had dealings, and when everythings fine, no problem, but as soon as you try to sort something out with them they are beyond a joke.
british gas are a joke the only reason they wont let you have a meter its because its cheaper then pay as you go .
you pay a daily charge for the thing and it will cost you a lot more
the reason i know this is i WAS with british gas we charged and get rid of the meters npower did all for us we are one happy customer now
ps i wont go back to british gas if someone was going to pay my bills for me!!!
hope you get it sorted out?

I agree! I bought my place 5 yrs ago and it had been rented.....Southern electric to change paymeter no Probs.......but the gas-nightmare! been a billed customer previously (until the day before) for 9 years but somehow during the madness of moving, i became untrustworthy and had to prove myself for a year. The problem for me was that to go to another supplier meant a meter change.....and guess who ownes the meters? Hours spent in queues on the phone and lots of letters. THE WORST customer service i have ever come accross. (and thats from someone with a 3 mobile lol.!)
