gameboy advance (not advance sp)

Hi there,
I want to buy my son the game boy advance older version for christmas as I don't want him to have a flip screen yet as I think it will get broken. however, I want to know if the gbadvance has a back lit screen?

the GBA doesn't have a back lit screen, you can buy the light separately but they're not that good.

thanks for your reply, red7. I am very grateful. I did go with the auction anyway as it was such a good deal. I hope my son is pleased. I just feel that he is a little young and too heavy handed for the new game boy style with the flip screen, so this handset will be better. he has a game boy colour at the moment and still plays it all the time, so I'm hoping he will enjoy this upgrade.

Has anyone else pre-ordered a Wii only to be told that due to a European shortage they will now not be able to fulfill the pre-order on the release date? - apparently more will be available before Christmas, but remains to be seen. Why do these manufacturers do this? this has been years in the making and then they mess up the release date which in itself has been put back several times. Do they think they are generating more interest in the product by doing this? Personally I think they alienate more people than create interest.
