Unwanted Cat Visitors

We feed our cat twice a day & he eats all his food in one go. He has a magnetic catflap (he has a magnet round his neck & only he can open the catflap to come in) but other cats in the neighbourhood have figured out how to open the flap towards them, and as a result they enter our house. We are often in the bedroom or living room with our cat & hear the cat flap close - meaning an unwanted cat has been in the house. Why do the other cats come into our house when there is no food for them to steal? Our cat has also started spraying in the house. Help - we want it to stop!

Cats are territorial creatures - these visits are about establishing territory, not eating, and that's why your cat is spraying, to establish his own area for the visitors. Why not try keeping your cat in for a few days, let him out via the door, but seal the flap - once the visitors realise there is no access, they'll go elsewhere, and your cat should stop spraying, once the threat to his terrritory has stopped invading.
