7Up was first made in 1929 and was named by company founder C. L. Grigg. It sold so well that in 1936 Grigg changed his company name to the 7Up Company.
Grigg has never explained why he chose that name for his drink. So, to this day, nobody can answer your question although there are numerous myths and guesses as to the origin.
i'd say he is not old enough either! i give my 4 year old sparkling water with some pure fruit juice in it instead of fizzy drinks filled with enumbers! he loves it!
It was always my understanding that Snow White named the drink after a particularly satisfying night with the dwarves - but I could be wrong :-/
this from "the book of useless information" page 191 The citrus soda 7-UP was created in 1929; 7 was selected because the original containers were 7 ounces. UP indicted the direction of the bubbles.
Your son has good instincts. Learning to drink sugar laden soda at an early age instead of water or juice, tends to inure whole generations to nutrition empty 'products'
