Alcohol can increase the sedative effects of the antidepressants, whilst Tyramine in beer and/or wine can interact with some antidepressants to cause a dangerous rise in blood pressure.
Add to all this the fact that for many, alcohol is a depressant in its own right, which is kinda counterproductive if someone is taking antidepressants!

peachy51, Please think twice before mixing drink with AD's. I help moderate for OSSG...Online Seroxat Support Group. I've been doing it for 3 years and have known member's to become suicidal through mixing drink with AD's. Lazygun is right, alchohol is a depressant in itself. Your serotonin level's that are brought up to a normal level with the help of your AD will be all over the place with too much drink. Maybe 1- 2 glasses of wine but no more for your own sake. Daisy.
