Have you both got photocard driving licences? If so, Ryanair will accept them as valid ID on flights to Dublin. (The UK and the Republic of Ireland operate a 'borderless' policy, so you don't need a passport to get into Ireland):

York is very pretty, i live near there & its nice to have a walk round & has some nice restaurants & cafes..
Me & my boyfriend went to edinburgh for the week in the summer and absolutely loved it! i would definately reccommend going there, it was really great. We just stayed in the travel lodge which is right in the centre & only about a 5/10 min walk from waverly train station, & it was the cheapest place we could find and the rooms were really nice.
would definately say there is really nice!!

How about the Cotswolds - Bourton on the Water, Broadway, Chipping Camden, Woodstock, Stow on the Wold, the Slaughters etc. Really beautiful villages in honey coloured Cotswold stone, quaint pubs with open fireplaces and lovely countryside around. The Plough at Ford is a good place to stay and lovely food. Blenheim Palace is quite close and Stratford upon Avon is just a bit north if you want to get out and about a bit.
If you want a nice Hotel break, have a look at http://www.offpeakluxury.com for romantic breaks.
My girlfriend and I went on one in Chester and loved it.
