Tamagotchi Connection

While looking after my grandson's Tamagotchi I unhappily ignored the chance to find a mate, that is when a thing like a library book is displayed. He is devastated that it might now die. Does anyone know how to get the "Matchmaker" book to display again. A cheat page says first to "select" a friend but although I can locate the list of friends I do not know how to select one.

I once did that but it appeared half a day later. You can also get another tamogotchi of the opposite gender and mate that way. Sorry if i am too late.
