one of the valuation surveys i had done when i bought my property 10 years ago, said 'there is evidence of past movement, but no evidence of recent movement'. this has caused me problems getting buildings insurance. how do i go about proving whether it is moving or not. mainly so i can rectify the problem (if there is one), but also to enable to shop around for insurance if there is not a problem.

They will place pegs in relevant places and monitor the property for several months. Whether you get a copy of the report depends. It may be worth getting your own structural surveyor out to monitor the property on your behalf. His report can then be produced to insurers.
