Well I always pay extra for the exit seats, it is well worth it and you can stretch right out.
You will probably have at least one film shown on the way over and back, but bring a book or paper (if you are allowed) and also a bottle of water to stop dehydration.

Get up every couple of hours to go to the toilet (really just to stretch your legs)
Sleeping tablets!
mouth fresheners the ones that look like tiny strips of plastic that you put on your tongue then if you go to sleep and waken with your mouth feeling awful(or the inflight meal leaves a horrid taste) just pop one on your tongue for an instant freshen up
From what I read before doing long haul flights, sleeping tablets are NOT recommended as it is easier to deal with the effects of jet-lag if you have not taken them. Don't ask me why but I would imagine it would have something to do with drug induced sleep rather than natural kipping.

Other than that, I recommend staying clear of alcohol as it has a dehydrating effect which when combined with the already stale, dry and recycled air on planes allows for a particularly bad hangover/ poorly state on arrival.
YES DONT SIT ON THE WINGS. sorry just had to get that one in
