Ok, sounds silly i know, but i have heard this phrase alot since i was a kid and wondered if there is any truth in it? For years one side of my bed was against the wall so i only had one choice of side to get out of!! I wonder if this has caused any of the misfortune i suffered during this time??

Well if you did try to get out of bed the wrong side - i.e against the wall - it would be a bad start to the day as you'd probably bang your head which would put you in a bad mood - I'm in a bad mood every morning - like a bear with a sore head - my mum used to say !!

I think it had something to do with sailors and hammocks ?
Inolden times it was thought unlucky to put your left foot on the floor first. So you had to get out so that your right foot touched first.
Depended which side you left the bed pan
This is just a myth. My mother still says it to me now. When I asked her what she meant by it, she said it's just a saying which has been going around for years...if you're grumpy in the morning basically!
