i have just fenced a small area off for our dog to have a sh1te and my garden is better already! she now has a 4ft area to do it in and we kniow where it is now aswell!!
Dog Rocks is brilliant ..won't harm your pet either. We use it and no longer have yellow patches. . It isn't too expensive and it saves really in the long run with the time you could spend breaking your back replacing turf or buying Green Up and faffing around generally and worth it to keep your lawn nice and green.
As for poop ..well I pick it up straight away and keep a watering can handy and slosh water over the grass..It does help as Agent says if the dog has it's own area to go in.

Thanks for the answers! I think our dog would dis-own us if we fenced off her toilet area........we basically give her the freedom of the garden = the dead lawn! I'll give the Dog Rocks a go! Cheers!
if you can catch her doing it pour a bucket of water over the area to dilute
I can vouch for the fact that dilution not only works, but is good for the grass. Our bitch used to cause burn marks on the lawn until a medical problem meant she was put on diuretics. She therefore drank more and produced larger quantities of dilute urine. Instead of a greater amount of lawn damage, the grass actually started sprouting in a more lush green where she had been. She has since passed on, which suggests another solution:
Dead dog = Live lawn
But of course that is no solution for dog lovers to consider.
Jesus ! What are you lot feeding your dogs on ? We've had dogs for 30 yrs and not once has the lawn been damaged by a doggy poo.
It's not the poop that damges the lawn so much as the urine especially from a bitch.I have had dogs for more than thirty years and can vouch for the fact that a bitches urine will burn the grass and leave yellow patches. What do feed your dog then ?
Never owned a bitch - always a male - wouldn't have a bitch.
