Does anyone know if you are disconnecting and removing a gas oven you need to have a CORGI engineer do it? Our vendors are being really pedantic and trying to charge us over every little thing and want us to pay a large amount for an oven which isnt worth anything. We are refusing and want them to prove a CORGI engineer has removed the oven with a receipt. Our solicitors have just come back saying they will be removing the oven and don't need it to be done by a CORGI engineer. Is this correct?
If the oven is built in and hard piped then yes it does need a CORGI engineer to dissconect and make safe the pipework.
However if it is a free standing oven and conected via a flexible hose to a self sealing bayonet fitting then allthough not recomended you may dissconect without the need of a CORGI gasman.
